LEWIS COUNTY SNAP UPDATE
LOWVILLE, NY- Due to the
ongoing federal government shutdown, November SNAP benefits may be delayed.
SNAP benefits cannot be issued for November unless the federal government
shutdown ends or other federal action provides necessary funding. SNAP
households will be notified by November 1, 2025, on the status of November
SNAP benefits. Updates will be posted on the OTDA website, myBenefits, ebtEDGE, and
through text messages to SNAP households.
Applications for
SNAP will continue to be accepted and processed at Lewis County DSS.
However, households may not receive benefits until the federal shutdown
ends. SNAP households should continue to complete all SNAP requirements
including recertifications and reporting changes. Failure to complete SNAP
requirements may further delay benefits once the government shutdown ends.
During the SNAP
interruptions, recipients can visit their local food pantry. A complete
list of Lewis County food pantries and their hours of operation is included below.
