Lynn T. Kampnich
CROGHAN- Lynn T. Kampnich, 66, of Mechanic Street, passed away suddenly
on Friday September 12, 2025 at his home.
A funeral Mass
will be said on Friday, September 19, 2025 at
10:30 a.m. at St. Stephen’s Church with Rev. Donald Manfred, Pastor
officiating. Burial
will be held privately, at the convenience of the family. Calling hours will be held on Thursday,
September 18, 2025 from 4 – 7 p.m. at Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., Lowville. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be
made to St. Stephen’s Church, PO Box 38, Croghan, NY 13367; or to Croghan Fire Department, P.O.
Box 405, Croghan, NY 13327.
He is survived by
his wife of 45 years, Wendy; a daughter and son-in-law, Melanie and Claude
Bertrand of Fuquay Varina, NC; a daughter-in-law, Morgan Whitlatch; a
son-in-law, Marc Lunn of NC; his siblings, Roland and Delta Kampnich of Castorland; Paul Kampnich of Croghan;
Rebecca and Beryl Walseman of Carthage; Laurence and Sue Kampnich of Croghan; three granddaughters, Allison and
Jeremy Bulloch of Croghan; Hailey Lunn of NC; Carlee Lunn of NC; three
great-grandchildren, Logan, Annalee and Aspen Bulloch; an aunt, and close
nieces, nephews and cousins, and special nephews and hunting buddies, Henry
and Jeff Walseman. He is predeceased
by a son, Jon Widrick who passed away on December 8, 2015; a sister-in-law,
Janice Kampnich; and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Margaret and
Francis Houppert; and a sister who died at birth.
Lynn was born on
March 12, 1959 in Lowville, a son of the late
Donald J. and Ellen Gowing Kampnich.
He graduated from Beaver River Central School in 1977 and worked for
Ortlieb’s Dairy Supply for many years.
On September 12, 1980, he married the former Wendy M. Houppert by
the New Bremen Pond with Town Justice Wally Steria officiating. Lynn operated a dairy farm for Vic Steria
before going to work for Suburban Propane.
He earned many certifications while working as a service technician
and in the office for Suburban Propane and retired after 25 years of
service.
Lynn was a
communicant of St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, Croghan. He was a member of Jake’s Pond Hunting
Club, Pepperbox Hunting Club, and High Noon Hunting Club. He loved baking, gardening, canning and
solving word puzzles. Lynn enjoyed
traveling with his wife in the United States, Europe and Canada. He was an outdoorsman, enjoying cutting
wood and building trails. Hunting
was his passion. Lynn was a jack of
all trades, and he loved helping people, expecting nothing in return. Every summer, he would enjoy helping his
nephew with haying.
