AI-generated content may be incorrect.CLINTON/LOWVILLE – Carolyn Mary Lehman Henry, 87, formerly of Saunders Road, Clinton, NY, and Lowville, NY passed away peacefully Saturday, September 27, 2025 at Iroquois Nursing Home in Jamesville, NY. Carolyn was a loving wife, mother, and aunt, who is remembered for her kindness, always putting the needs of others above her own, strong faith, commitment to public education, a lifetime of volunteer service, and love of raspberry pie!

 

A funeral service will be held at Clinton United Methodist Church on Friday, October 3, 2025 at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Abel Roy officiating.  Calling hours will be held from Noon until 1:30, prior to the service at the church.  A funeral service will be held at Lowville Mennonite Church on Saturday, October 4, 2025 at Noon, with Rev. Evan Zehr officiating.  Calling hours will be held from 10:00 a.m. until Noon, prior to the funeral service at the church.  Burial will follow the service on Saturday in Kirschnerville Mennonite Cemetery.  Contributions in her memory may be made to Goshen College, 1700 S. Main St, Goshen, Indiana 46526, https://www.goshen.edu/give/; or to the Adirondack Mennonite Heritage Association Farm, PO Box 368, Croghan, NY  13327.  Arrangements are with Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., Lowville.

 

Surviving are her husband of 57 years, Donald; a daughter, Adonia Henry and her husband, William Smith of King Salmon, Alaska; three sisters, Phyllis Lyndaker of Lowville; Joyce A. Moser of Lowville; Janet and her husband, Donald Roggie of Lowville; a brother, Elton and his wife, Jane Lehman of Lowville; a sister-in-law, Pauline Lehman of Croghan; several nieces, nephews and many cousins.  She is predeceased by a brother, Richard D. Lehman; a sister and a brother-in-law, Eunice and Wilford Roggie; and two brothers-in-law, Norman Lyndaker and Ellis Moser.

 

Carolyn was born April 11, 1938 at home in Castorland, NY, daughter of Emanuel and Christina Moser Lehman.  She graduated from Lowville Academy and Central School in 1956.  She received her Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education from Goshen College in Goshen, Indiana in 1960, and earned a Master’s degree in Mathematics Education from Potsdam State College in August 1967.  She married Donald O. Henry on December 22, 1967 at First Mennonite Church, New Bremen with Pastor Norman Lyndaker officiating.  Donald and Carolyn met when they were teachers at Lowville Academy and Central School.  Mrs. Henry taught mathematics for 25 years at the junior high and high school level.  Her last ten years she taught at Poland Central School, retiring in 1995.  Carolyn did some private tutoring in mathematics.

 

Carolyn was a lifetime member of Lowville Mennonite Church.  She served on the board of directors of Beaver Camp and the Adirondack Mennonite Heritage Association, including the scholarship fund and organizing the annual Zwanzigstein Fest for many years.  She was a member of the NYS Teacher’s Association.

 

She enjoyed music and singing, crocheting, making quilts for Mennonite Central Committee, and traveling, including travel to France and Germany to research family genealogy. She sang in the choir at the Clinton United Methodist Church.
