FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

BOONVILLE MAN INDICTED ON 12 COUNTS, INCLUDING WITNESS BRIBERY AND THREATS

Thursday, September 11, 2025 – Lowville, New York

Lewis County District Attorney Jeffery G. Tompkins announced today that a Lewis County Grand Jury has indicted Randy J. Ossont, 43, of Boonville, on twelve criminal counts, including bribing a witness, criminal contempt, tampering with evidence, aggravated harassment, and methamphetamine possession.

The indictment alleges that Ossont, while under a valid order of protection, bribed a victim in a pending felony assault case—where he is accused of beating the victim with a metal pole at a public park and stealing his backpack—in exchange for false testimony to have the charges against him dismissed. He is further accused of threatening to kill the victim, as well as the victim’s wife and children. During the execution of an arrest warrant, Ossont also allegedly attempted to conceal methamphetamine from law enforcement officers.

Ossont appeared in Lewis County Court on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, and pled not guilty to all charges. He was remanded to the Lewis County Jail in lieu of bail.

District Attorney Tompkins said, “Witness tampering and threats against victims should never be tolerated. These actions put innocent and vulnerable people at even greater risk and undermine our system of justice. I want to thank the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office for their thorough work in this case.”
