United Way of Northern New York Opens 2026 Community
Impact Grant Portal
Grants support programs that improve health,
education, and economic stability
Watertown, NY — United Way of
Northern New York (UWNNY) is proud to announce the opening of its Community
Impact Grant portal and invites nonprofit organizations across Jefferson,
Lewis, and St. Lawrence Counties to apply for 2026 funding to support
programs that make measurable, meaningful change in the community. Grants
will be awarded to human service programs that align with at least one of
United Way’s areas of focus:
·
Social Determinants of Health (e.g., housing, food
access, healthcare, transportation)
·
Child and Youth Success (e.g., school readiness,
mentoring, academic support)
·
Economic Stability (e.g., workforce development,
financial literacy, emergency assistance)
“These funds are
invested in the programs that lift up our neighbors,” said UWNNY President
& CEO Dawn Cole. “They’re made possible by hundreds of individuals and
businesses who give through workplace campaigns, united in their belief
that local dollars should create local impact.”
The online portal
will remain open through August 29, 2025 at 11:59
PM. Application questions and eligibility guidelines are available at: www.unitedway-nny.org/community-impact-grants
Community Review
Process
Funding decisions
are guided by the Community Review Panel (CRP), a diverse group of local
volunteers who review each proposal and make recommendations to United
Way’s Board of Directors. UWNNY invites individuals who are passionate
about the mission of strengthening the North Country to learn more about
the CRP process. Volunteers should have a basic understanding of United
Way’s focus areas and a desire to help ensure donor dollars are invested
wisely.
“It’s a unique
opportunity to get an inside look at the challenges and solutions in our
communities,” said Cole. “Reviewers walk away with a deeper appreciation
for the work of local nonprofits—and for the power of giving.”
