AI-generated content may be incorrect.LOWVILLE- Sherman G. “Sherm” Merry, 82, of Erie Canal Road, Lowville, passed away at his home on Sunday, July 27, 2025, under the loving care of his family, close friends and Lewis County Hospice.  

 

In keeping with Sherm's wishes there will be no calling hours or funeral service.  A graveside service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 9, 2025 at Petries Corners Cemetery, with a luncheon to follow at Rusty P’s.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Friends of Lewis County Hospice, PO Box 266, Lowville, NY 13367.

 

He is survived by a son, Kenneth Scott Merry of Hopewell, NY; a grandson, Zach Gully of SC; six siblings, Ronald Merry of Lowville; Charlotte Morak of Lowville; Kathrine Pratt of Theresa; Sandra Manti (Emilio) of Hamlin, NY; Patricia and Randy Dosztan of Lowville; Dorothy Henderson of PA; several nieces, nephews and cousins.  He is predeceased by his beloved wife, Barbara, who passed on January 27, 2022; a sister-in-law, Judy Merry; two brothers-in-law, Ed Morak and Percy Pratt.

 

Sherman was born on February 22, 1943 in Lowville, NY, a son of the late Foster and Geraldine Sauer Merry.  He earned his GED and served in the United States Army from 1961 to 1964.  Sherm married Barbara Ann Wetmore in Lowville, NY in 1967.  He worked in purchasing for Eastman Kodak in Rochester, NY for 28 years, retiring in 1991.  Sherman enjoyed NASCAR, 4-wheeling and breakfast at Rusty's with friends.
