Historic Lowville Village Band supports High School Band Trip

The historic Lowville Village Band will continue their summer concert series on Wednesday, July 9 at 7:00 PM .  Food including special dinners of the week, deep fried cheese curd, desserts , snacks, and drink will be available from 6:00 PM- 8:00 PM and is provided by the homemade goodness of Moose Knuckles.  The playground is open for the kids and there is a lot of green space for ball and frisbee.

This concert will feature a medley from the musical "The King and I".  The medley features the songs, Getting to Know You, Shall We Dance, Hello, Young Lovers, and I whistle A Happy Tune.  A tune called "Dance Carnival" is very interesting and in the style of an old Brahms Hungarian Dance.  Pop tunes will include, "YMCA", "The Final Countdown" , and "Danger Zone".  Marches and Patriotic songs will round out the concert.

The village band has about a dozen South Lewis HS students and alumni that perform in the village band.  The South Lewis HS Band is raising money for an April 2026 Band Trip to Orlando, Florida where they will perform at Universal Studios or Walt Disney World.  Throughout the month of July, cans and bottles in bags will be collected to help defray the cost of the $24,000 coach bus that will get the South Lewis Students to Orlando.  Cans and bottles can be brought to any concert and placed next to the band stand on concert night.  All bags collected will go directly to South Lewis Band students to help defray the cost of the trip and make it possible.
