New York State
Police Superintendent Steven G. James has appointed Captain Casey
A. Cook, 45, of Camden, NY, as the new Zone Commander of Troop D, Zone
3. Captain Cook is the first woman to serve in this role in the history of
the zone.
Captain Cook

as a member of the 187th Basic School at the State Police Academy. She has since held a variety of investigative and
supervisory positions across multiple stations.
In May 2013,
Captain Cook was promoted to Investigator and assigned to SP Marcy. Later
that year, she attained the permanent rank of Sergeant and remained at SP
Marcy in her investigative role. She transferred to SP Oneida in August
2015, where she spent the majority of her career
in the Bureau of Criminal Investigation. She was promoted to Lieutenant in
November 2021 and assigned to Troop E, returning to Troop D in March 2022
as a BCI Lieutenant.
A lifelong
Central New York resident, Captain Cook lives in Oneida County and is a
2002 graduate of SUNY Oswego.
Her appointment
as Troop D Zone 3 Commander became effective on June 5, 2025. She succeeds
Captain Darren Forgea, who has been reassigned to Troop D Zone 2.
Zone 3
encompasses Jefferson, Lewis, and Oswego Counties and operates out of 14
