State Police Announce Major Kevin M. Reilly to Serve
as 34th Troop Commander of Troop D

State Police announce that Major
Kevin M. Reilly will serve as the 34th Troop Commander of Troop D
New York State
Police Superintendent Steven G. James has appointed Major Kevin M.
Reilly, 53, of Geneseo, NY as the 34th Troop Commander of Troop D.
Major Reilly
began his career with the State Police on January 8, 1996, when he entered
the New York State Police Academy.
In March 2003, he
was promoted to Sergeant and was assigned to SP Horseheads. In August
2003 he was appointed Station Commander and over the next four years was
assigned to SP Rochester.
Major Reilly was
promoted to Lieutenant in October 2007 and was assigned to Division
Headquarters Traffic. On February 18, 2012, Major Reilly was
appointed to the rank of Captain and assigned to Professional Standards
Bureau West. On February 12, 2015 he was
assigned to SP Rochester as the Zone One Commander, where he served for ten
years.
Major Reilly is a
resident of Livingston County and is a 2008 graduate of SUNY Albany.
Major Reilly’s
appointment as the Troop D Commander was effective June 5, 2025. He
replaces Major Robert J. Simpson, who was reassigned to Division
Headquarters Albany.
Major Reilly’s
command covers seven counties in Central New York, including Herkimer,
Jefferson, Lewis, Madison, Oneida, Onondaga, and Oswego. Operating
from 27 facilities, the men and women of Troop D provide service to 167
towns, 89 villages, and five cities.
