AI-generated content may be incorrect.CROGHAN, NY- Beverly B. Moore, 63, of Pearl St., Croghan, passed away into the hands of our Lord on Thursday, June 19, 2025 at home where she was under the care of her loving family.

 

Born February 12, 1962, a daughter of Thomas A. and Ellen E. (Campany) Nortz, she graduated from Beaver River Central School in 1980.  She later attended and graduated from Canton ATC with an Associate’s degree in 1982 and from Empire State with a Bachelor’s degree in 2015.

 

In the 1980’s she became employed with Lewis County Head Start, working out of the Harrisville center as a Home Visitor. She later became a classroom teacher teaching preschool in the Beaver Falls and Lowville centers.  Beverly worked for Head Start for over 30 years, and was still working at the time of her death.

 

Beverly was a communicant and member of St. Stephen’s Church and its Music Ministry, St. Stephen’s Rosary Society and was a former Sunday School Teacher.  She was an American Legion Auxillary member.

 

Throughout her life, she enjoyed many interests and activities, including country music, golf, dancing, playing guitar and singing. She was especially fond of playing Euchre and watching old Gunsmoke and Andy Griffith TV shows. Most of all, she loved attending her grandchildren’s sporting events, cheering on her Buffalo Bills and spending time with her dog, Max.

 

Surviving are her two daughters, Sarah F. (Marcus) Tornatore, of Fairport, NY, and Megan E. Buckingham (Scott Reyes, fiancé), of Brookline, MA; three grandchildren, Mason, Ellie and Owen Tornatore; four sisters, Jane M. (Sam) Jones, of Brownville, Elaine K. Nortz, of Washington, DC, Susan L. Nortz, of Croghan, Mary Ann (John) Reff, of Clayton; her brother, David J. (Cathy) Nortz, of Springfield, MA; three step-sons, Stephen T. (Michele) Moore, Scott M. (Susan) Moore, and Darren L. (Wendy) Moore; seven step-grandsons, Hunter, Matthew, Wyatt, Greg, Ben, Joshua and Christopher and three step-granddaughters, Morgan, Taylor and Addison; her uncle, Richard Campany, of Croghan, and two aunts, Ellen Zimmer, of Rochester, and Dorothea Nortz, of Lewiston, NY, as well as many nieces and nephews and over 50 first cousins.

 

Beverly was predeceased by her parents Thomas and Ellen Nortz, her husband Terry Moore and her stepson Derek Moore.

 

Beverly’s funeral service will be held on Friday, June 27, 2025, beginning with a 9:45 a.m. Prayer Service at Scanlon Funeral Home, Croghan, followed by a 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Stephen’s Church, Croghan, with the Rev. Donald J. Manfred, Pastor, officiating. Burial will be in St. Stephen’s Cemetery, Croghan.

 

Calling hours will be on Thursday, June 26th, from 3-6 p.m. at the funeral home.
