Communications and Public Relations
Lewis County has
issued the following statement in response to the New York State Comptroller’s
audit report regarding the Lewis County Industrial Development Agency
(LCIDA):
“In response to
the recent audit of the LCIDA, not the Naturally Lewis Board, by the NYS
Comptroller’s office, it’s important to note that the Lewis County Board of
Legislators has no involvement in the IDA’s
financial decisions. While there are two legislators that sit on the IDA
board, they do not sit on the auditing committee. Furthermore, being that
the IDA is a New York State Authorized Public Benefit Corporation, the
Lewis County Board of Legislators does not review their financial records.
The LCIDA operates independently, and this issue highlights the need for
stronger oversight and accountability as addressed in the report.”
