Bonnie L. Tebo
HARRISVILLE, NY- Bonnie L. Tebo,
78, of 14472 Hands Flat Rd., Harrisville, died Thursday, May 15, 2025 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Syracuse, NY.
Born November 1, 1946 in Gouverneur, NY, a daughter of Herbert and Minnie
Reed McCumber, she was a 1964 graduate of Gouverneur High School.
A marriage to
James W. Tebo in 1964 in Gouverneur ended in divorce.
As a young girl,
she worked for her family’s business, McCumber Ice Cream, on Grove Street,
driving an ice cream truck for her father. She later owned and operated
Bonnie’s Luncheonette in Gouverneur in the 1960’s and 1970’s. From 1979
until 1980, she attended BOCES where she obtained her Licensed Practical
Nursing degree, after which she went to work for EJ Noble Hospital in
Gouverneur as an LPN until 2002, when she became disabled. Also, beginning
in 1980, she owned and operated Tebo’s Ice Cream Parlor in Gouverneur for
many years.
From time to time
throughout her life, she liked traveling, especially to Viginia Beach and
Florida. She also very much enjoyed picking blackberries, crocheting and
sewing, and absolutely loved the company of her dogs and cats.
Surviving are
three sons, James (Laura) Tebo, of Natural Bridge, Joseph (Dawn) Tebo, of
Russell, and Jeffrey (Melissa Parow) Tebo, of Harrisville; fourteen
grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her
best friend in the world, Melissa Parow, of Harrisville.
She was
predeceased by her daughter, Michelle Tebo, who died in infancy at the age
of 6 months, her brother, Herbert McCumber, Jr., and her sister Marie
Denton.
Bonnie’s funeral
service will be held on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Scanlon
Funeral Home, 14187 State St., Harrisville, with Deacon Michael Allen,
officiating.
Calling hours will also
be on Wednesday, May 21st, from 12 Noon until the beginning of
the 2:00 p.m. funeral service at the funeral home.
All are invited
for a post service gathering and bite to eat at Bonnie’s house on Hands
Flat Road following the 2:00 p.m. service.
