AI-generated content may be incorrect.Wayne K. Kuhl, 79, of Beaver Falls passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, April 19, 2025 at the Wynn Hospital in Utica, after suffering a medical emergency the day prior.

 

Wayne was born April 30, 1945 at the Lewis County General Hospital to Karl and Margaret (Bockenheim) Kuhl. Wayne was graduated from Beaver River Central School in 1962. After graduation, Wayne worked for the Croghan Meat Market until he enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1964. He served four years and was honorably discharged in 1968.

 

Wayne then went to work as a chemist for Boise Cascade at the latex mill in Beaver Falls, which went through multiple ownership/name changes, until the mill closed in 1999. He then worked for the Village of Croghan, Fort Drum Public Works, and most recently Aries Chemical in Beaver Falls.

 

In his spare time he enjoyed hunting at Blue Swamp Hunting Club Camp Weatua, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was known as the Proverbial Reader of “Betty’s Gnome”. Wayne was a member and Past Commander of the Croghan American Legion Post 1663, and Honorary Member and former Fire Commissioner of the Beaver Falls Fire Department.

 

Wayne is survived by a sons David Kuhl (Leah Murphy) of Beaver Falls and Dennis Kuhl (Angela Fowler) of Victor, grandchildren Christopher (Emily) Kuhl of Hamilton, OH, Mikayla Kuhl (Tyler Hanavan) of Liverpool, Joshua Kuhl of Beaver Falls and Rebekah of Heuvelton; great-grandchildren Liam, Collin and Cora. Also surviving are a brother Bradley Kuhl (Marjorie Zehr) of New Bremen and many nieces and nephews.

 

Wayne was predeceased by his wife of nearly 58 years, Elizabeth “Betty” (Brown) Kuhl on April 1, 2025; his parents Karl and Margaret, a sister Carole (Virgil) Widrick and baby boy Kuhl.

 

Contributions in memory of Wayne and Betty may be made to the Beaver Falls Fire Department Ambulance Fund, 9583 Main Street; Beaver Falls, NY 13305.

 

Calling hours for Wayne and Betty will be held on Thursday, May 1, 2025 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Scanlon Funeral Home, Croghan. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, May 2, 2025 at St. Stephen’s Church, burial will follow in the St. Stephen’s Parish Cemetery.
