Obituary: Karen A. Koster, 69, Lowville

Karen A. Koster

 

LOWVILLE - Karen A. Koster, 69, passed away peacefully on the morning of March 20, 2025, at Lewis County General Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.

 

Born on June 15, 1955, in Lowville, she was the daughter of Mary Sally (Soults) Brennan and the late Harvey Farrington Young.

 

Karen was a graduate of Lowville Academy and Central School, class of 1973, and furthered her education at Geneseo State University. On August 1, 1980, she married Sheldon E. Koster, and together they made their home on the East Road.

 

Her career began in the insurance field in Lowville as an administrative assistant, and she later worked at Bomax in Watertown.

 

She is survived by her husband, Sheldon; their two sons, Shaun M. (Kelly Peters) Koster and Eric M. Koster; and her four beloved grandchildren, Bentley, Leineigh, Jessy, and Zayden. Karen is also survived by her mother, her five siblings, Michael F. (Kae) Young, Amy Y. Upham, Tony (Juanita) Young, Fred (Petra) Young, and Tim (Theresa) Young, along with several nieces and nephews.

 

She was predeceased by her son, Jesse Alan Koster, who passed away in November 2006.

 

Koster family would like to thank the staff at Lewis County General Hospital and a special thank you to the staff of the Comfort Care Room.

 

In accordance with her wishes, Karen will be cremated, and a private burial will take place at Fairview Cemetery.
