...FLOOD WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 2 AM EDT MONDAY...

 

* WHAT...Flooding caused by rain and snowmelt is expected.

 

* WHERE...A portion of central New York, including the following

  counties, Lewis and Oswego.

 

* WHEN...Until 200 AM EDT Monday.

 

* IMPACTS...The combination of run-off from recent snow melt and

  rain moving into the area will cause flooding in creeks, streams,

  and other low-lying areas. Streams will rise this evening due to

  excess runoff, which may result in flooding. Low-water crossings

  are inundated with water and may not be passable, and basements

  may be flooded.

 

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...

  - At 505 PM EDT, rain and snowmelt is occurring, and will cause

    flooding.

  - Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are possible in

    the warned area.

  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...

    Lowville, Pulaski, Central Square, Redfield, Highmarket,

    Whetstone Gulf State Park, Hastings, Richland, Constantia,

    West Monroe, Palermo, Phoenix, Watson, Mexico, Martinsburg,

    Williamstown, Lyonsdale, Greig, Orwell and Cleveland.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

 

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood

deaths occur in vehicles.

 

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are

potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
