JCC Helps Students Connect Academic Programs with
Career Goals –
Open House and Career Expo to Be Held on April 11
Jefferson
Community College (JCC) will host its annual Open House and Career Expo
(OHCE) on Friday, April 11, 2025, giving students a unique
opportunity to explore academic programs while making valuable career
connections. Check-in begins at 8:15 a.m. in the Jules
Center Commons (Building 6).
This year marks
the anniversary of Jefferson’s restructured open house event featuring a
networking fair with local employers. Chelsea Marra, Director of
Admissions, says students shouldn’t have to wait until after college to
start making career connections. "Our goal is to create an event that
empowers prospective students with the knowledge and resources to make
informed decisions about their college paths and simultaneously, connect
them with industry professionals early on in their decision making,” Marra
said.
Highlights of
Jefferson’s OHCE include:
- A networking fair featuring 40+
local employers offering career guidance, job opportunities,
and insights into in-demand skills.
- An opportunity to meet faculty and ask
questions about specific academic programs of interest.
- Campus tours showcasing JCC’s facilities, residence
halls, and resources.
- An opportunity to hear from current
students about academics, campus life, and athletics.
- Student services fair where prospective students can learn more
career services, access and opportunity programs, veteran services and
more.
The event will
also feature keynote speaker Eric Mina, an inspirational
speaker, hypnotherapist, entrepreneur, author, and philanthropist.
Described by CBS as amazingly hysterical, Mina holds a
psychology degree from Penn State University and has captivated audiences
across the U.S. and internationally, including in Las Vegas, New
York, and Australia.
Families are
encouraged to attend with their student(s). To
