...LAKE EFFECT SNOW WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 AM EST MONDAY...

 

...WINTER STORM WATCH IN EFFECT FROM MONDAY EVENING THROUGH LATE MONDAY NIGHT...

 

* WHAT...For the Lake Effect Snow Warning, heavy lake effect snow. Additional snow accumulations 6 to 12 inches in the most persistent lake snows. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph producing some blowing and drifting snow. For the Winter Storm Watch, heavy lake effect snow possible. Total snow accumulations 4 to 7 inches possible in the most persistent lake snows. Winds could also gust as high as 50 mph early on, leading to blowing and drifting snow and dangerous whiteout conditions.

 

* WHERE...The Eastern Lake Ontario Region.

 

* WHEN...For the Lake Effect Snow Warning, until 6 AM EST Monday.

                  For the Winter Storm Watch, from Monday evening through late Monday night.

 

* IMPACTS...For the Lake Effect Snow Warning, travel will be difficult. For the Winter Storm Watch, whiteout conditions are possible and may make travel treacherous and potentially life-threatening. Strong winds could also cause tree damage and power outages.

 

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...For the Lake Effect Snow Warning, heavy snow will fall in relatively

narrow bands. If traveling, be prepared for rapidly changing road conditions and visibilities.

 

For the Winter Storm Watch, consider delaying travel. If you must travel, drive with extreme caution. Leave plenty of room between you and the motorist ahead of you, and allow extra time to reach your destination. Avoid sudden braking or acceleration, and be especially cautious on hills or when making turns.
