Lowville Turkey Day 5K Participants Raise Over $2,300
for Renee Beyer Memorial Fund

Lowville Turkey Trot 2024
 The annual Lowville Turkey Day 5K
continues to grow and bring together runners, walkers and families for a
great start to the Thanksgiving Holiday. The first signs of winter were in
the air with snow and slush as 275 participants made their way around the
challenging 5K course. It is amazing to see so many people gather together to raise money for a good cause and
enjoy a healthy start to the Turkey Day.
The event is a
family fun run with no official timing or awards. Many participants dress
in holiday attire and the number of runners under the age of eighteen is
outnumbering the older generations. The wet and sloppy conditions did not
slow down the speedy runners. Eliana Bonbrest
from Turin was the fastest woman for the second year in a row at 21:12. She
was followed by Jenna Weaver in 21:22 and Mackenzie Ples in 23:28. For the
men, Will Bartel had a sprint finish with Corwin Christman, both runners
finishing in 20:08. Conner Carrigar came in close behind for third place in 20:24.
Double Play
Community Center is proud to host the thirteenth annual Lowville Turkey Day
5K. Double Play expresses a special thank you to Dr. Steve Lyndaker and Dr.
Shareen Palmer at Lowville Medical Associates. The local medical practice
has sponsored the run every year since its inception. The Turkey Trot
donates all its proceeds to the United Way Renee Beyer Memorial Fund with
over $2,300 raised this year and over $25,000 raised since 2014. Double
Play Community Center has been dedicated to raising funds for this cause
with multiple events each year. The Lowville Turkey Day 5K will be back in
