Haskell was born
on February 5, 1953, in Lowville, to the late Haskell A. and Mabel R.

maple business, Yancey’s Sugarbush. Haskell took pride in operating the
evaporator every spring and sharing his knowledge and passion for maple
production with visitors, family, and friends. It brought him immense joy to
see his children and grandchildren carrying on the maple traditions.
Haskell and his family were honored to be recognized by TAUNY’s North
Country Heritage Award in 2010, and the NYS Centennial Award in 2017.
Haskell was a
dedicated public servant, serving as Town Supervisor for Croghan from 1996

community. Over the years, he held leadership roles in many organizations,
including the Lewis County Farm Bureau, Lowville Producers Dairy

New York Maple Producers Cooperative. His involvement extended to numerous
other agricultural organizations, including the NNY Farmers Marketing
