The Lake
Bonaparte Conservation Club Inc. in Harrisville, NY recently hosted the New
York State Boating and Personal Water Safety Course. There were 12 people
in attendance ranging from 11 to 64 years old. Attendees were
instructed on many different aspects of safe boating and the use of
personal watercraft. This 8-hour course was an introduction to the basic
principles of safe and responsible boating to ensure New York's waterways
remain safe and enjoyable. The course taught basic boating skills and
encouraged common sense and courtesy to all who share the water. Topics
included rules of the nautical road, required safety equipment, special
boating related activities, invasive species as well as New York State laws
concerning watercrafts and much more.
Effective January
1, 2025, anyone operating a motor driven vessel will need to be certified.
The Lake
Bonaparte Conservation Club Inc. wants everyone to boat and PWC
safely and responsibly.
