Eunice Roggie
CASTORLAND/LOWVILLE
– Eunice Roggie, 95, formerly of Old Indian River Road, passed
away Saturday, September 7, 2024 at Lewis County
Residential Healthcare Facility, where she has resided for the past ten
years.
She is survived
by four sons, Bruce L. and Barbara Roggie of Castorland; Kevin and Sue
Roggie of Lowville; Darrell and Jeanette Roggie, and Quintin and Debra
Roggie, both of Castorland; ten grandchildren, and 29 great-grandchildren; five
siblings; Phyllis Lyndaker of Lowville; Joyce Moser of Lowville; Carolyn and
Donald Henry of Clinton; Janet and Donald Roggie of Lowville; Elton and
Jane Lehman of Lowville; a sister-in-law, Pauline Lehman of Croghan; several
nieces, nephews and cousins. She is
predeceased by her husband, Wilford B. Roggie who passed away on April 17,
2016.; a brother, Richard Lehman; two brothers-in-law, Norman Lyndaker and
Ellis Moser.
Eunice was born
on April 3, 1929 in Lowville, NY, a daughter of
the late Emanuel and Christina Moser Lehman. She attended school in Castorland and
Lowville Academy. Eunice began
working at Castorland Post office before her marriage. On June 22, 1950, she married Wilford B.
Roggie at Croghan Mennonite Church with Rev. Lloyd Boshart
officiating. Eunice was a faithful
Christian wife and mother. She was a
member of Croghan Mennonite Church where she taught Sunday School and Bible
School for many years. Eunice
actively participated in the Sewing Circle for as long as she was able.
She loved her
home and caring for her family.
Eunice found great joy in her garden and being outdoors. She and Wilford enjoyed walking daily. Eunice had a gift for sewing and she
sewed and quilted a quilt for each of her children and grandchildren. They were also gifted with many knitted
sweaters and mittens. When she
finally had granddaughters, she took great pleasure in sewing lovely
dresses for them. Eunice enjoyed
reading and often read to her grandchildren. She enjoyed life and looked for the good
in others.
A memorial
service will be held at 3:00 p.m. at the Croghan Mennonite Church on Sunday
September 15, 2024 with Paul Mast, Bruce J.
Roggie, Darrell Roggie and Chris Roggie, Pastors, officiating. Calling hours will be from 2:00 p.m.–
3:00 p.m. on Sunday September 15, 2024, prior to the memorial service, at
the church. Burial in the church cemetery
will be private. Contributions in
her name may be made to Croghan Mennonite Church, P.O. Box 68, Croghan,
NY 13327. Arrangements are with Iseneker
