The Brantingham
Community Association recently hosted the New York State Boating and
Personal Water Safety Course. There were attendees ranging from 11 to 73
years old. Attendees were instructed on many different aspects of safe
boating and the use of personal watercraft. This 8-hour course was an
introduction to the basic principles of safe and responsible boating to
ensure New York's waterways remain safe and enjoyable. The course taught
basic boating skills and encouraged common sense and courtesy to all who
share the water. Topics included rules of the nautical road, required
safety equipment, special boating related activities, invasive species as
well as New York State law concerning watercrafts and much more.
Effective January
1, 2025, anyone operating a motor driven vessel will need to be certified.
The Brantingham
Community Association wants everyone to boat and PWC safely and
responsibly.
