 LOWVILLE/CASTORLAND- Joan Marie
Lehman, 66, of Artz Road, passed away Wednesday, August 14, 2024 at Upstate Medical University Hospital, Syracuse.
A private funeral
service will be held at the convenience of the family at First Mennonite
Church, New Bremen. Burial will be in the First Mennonite Church
Cemetery. There are no calling
hours. A
Celebration of Life gathering will be from 3:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 18, 2024
at First Mennonite Church Fellowship Hall.

Joan was always
thinking of others, and her final gift was through organ donation.
She is survived
by her husband of nearly 48 years, Brian; two daughters, Pam (Scott)
Goodheart of Lowville; Kim Lehman of Lowville; three grandchildren, Daniel,
Austin, and Payton Goodheart; her siblings, Wayne H. (Edie) Roggie of Croghan;
Benjamin D. (Lou Ann) Roggie of North Carolina; Glenn J. Roggie of
Tennessee; Judy (Harold) Wood of Castorland; Bradley J. Roggie of Lowville; an aunt,
several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Joan is predeceased by twin sons, Daniel Glenn Lehman and David
Wayne Lehman; her parents, Howard and Verna Roggie; her father-in-law and
mother-in-law, William and Phyllis Lehman.
Joan was born on November
22, 1957 in Brattleboro, VT, a daughter of the
late Howard and Verna Lehman Roggie. She graduated from Beaver River Central
School in 1975 and attended Eastern Mennonite University. On September 4, 1976, she married Brian
J. Lehman at First Mennonite Church. New Bremen with Rev. Lester Bauman
officiating. Joan worked at Beaver
River Central School for 36 years, first as a monitor on a bus for the
handicapped, which her father Howard Roggie was the bus driver. From there she became a one-on-one aid to
an autistic child for 15 years.
Since then, she has been a teacher’s aide in the elementary
classrooms.
Joan was a member
of First Mennonite Church, New Bremen, where she was church librarian for
many years. She was a ladies group
member of Beaver Falls Fire Department.
Joan had a love for reading, doing puzzles, camping, being with her
family, and walking her beloved dog, Roxy.
