Authority Reappoints Executive Director
Carl E. Farone,
Jr. has been reappointed Executive Director of the Development Authority of
the North Country by the organization’s Board of Directors. His new
contract extends until August, 2029.
Farone has been
employed by the Authority for 25 years. He was appointed executive director
in July, 2020. Immediately prior to serving as
executive director, he held the roles of Deputy Executive Director and
Chief Fiscal Officer.
Farone started as
a Project Development Specialist at the Development Authority, managing a
$21 million lending portfolio, and was later actively involved in the
creation of the Authority’s Open Access Telecommunications Network. Once
the Network was fully operational, he moved to the Finance office and in
2007 was named Comptroller. In 2019, Farone was promoted to Deputy
Executive Director/Chief Fiscal Officer.
During his four
years as executive director, Farone has overseen the opening of the
expansion of the regional landfill, led the Authority through challenges of
COVID-19, guided significant enhancements to the regional broadband
network, initiated significant investments in both water and wastewater
infrastructure serving Fort Drum, and continued to ensure that the
Authority is a valuable partner to North Country communities.
