Cedars to Host VTC’s 9th Annual Jefferson-Lewis Golf
Tournament
LOWVILLE, NY– Cedars Golf
Course will host the 9th Annual Volunteer Transportation Center
Jefferson-Lewis Golf Tournament to benefit the Volunteer Transportation
Center Foundation. The event will be held Saturday, Sept. 7, 2024, at the
course, located at 9368 East Road, Lowville.
“We’re proud to
once again partner with J.R. Chamberlain and the amazing folks at Cedars
Golf Course,” said Jeremiah S. Papineau, the nonprofit organization’s
Director of Communications and Foundation Director. “Each year, our
tournament increases in popularity and we’re able to raise more and more
crucial funding. Last year, we raised more than $23,000, which was our best
year yet. It was a huge help to provide services for our community.”
The Volunteer
Transportation Center Jefferson-Lewis Golf Tournament will again follow a
captain and crew format, beginning with registration at 8 a.m. and with a
shotgun start at 9 a.m. Registration will be $360 per team, which includes
a cart, dinner and tournament shirt. Skins and super skins may be purchased
at registration. Raffles and a 50-50 drawing will also round out the
event. Only the first 42 teams to register can be included.
The tournament
will take place regardless of weather, so no rain date or refunds will be
offered.
This event is
underwritten by Excellus BlueCross Blue Shield, Watertown Savings Bank,
Stewart’s Shops, and Advanced Business Systems, with Eagle Level
sponsorship from the Kinney Drugs Foundation and OneDigital/Benefit
Services Group. Sponsors are still being accepted and donations for
drawings are still being sought.

ABOUT THE
VOLUNTEER TRANSPORTATION CENTER
The Volunteer
Transportation Center, Inc. (VTC), established in 1991, drives thousands of
miles each year assisting community members in Jefferson, Lewis and St.
Lawrence Counties and beyond. Over the last 30 years, this essential
non-profit organization has provided rides to health care appointments,
food sources and other critical needs destinations for residents.
In 2023,
volunteer drivers provided 25,314 charitable trips over 855,471 miles in
Jefferson, Lewis, and St. Lawrence Counties. Of those miles, 329,819 helped
those in Jefferson County, 101,766 in Lewis County, and 423,886 in St.
Lawrence County. That equated to approximately $427,736 in mileage
reimbursement for our volunteers. That’s why the community’s help is so
important.
The staff, boards
of directors and volunteer drivers look forward to a time when
transportation to community activities and services is accessible to all
North Country residents regardless of economic or specialized needs. But
for now the mission drives on — striving to
provide transportation to health, wellness and critical needs destinations
utilizing volunteers and mobility management for anyone who has barriers to
transportation.

receive mileage reimbursement but, more importantly, make a difference in
the community. To learn more, visit www.volunteertransportationcenter.org.
