Wesley W. Parow
HARRISVILLE, NY- Wesley W. Parow,
81, formerly of Hands Flat Rd., Harrisville, died Friday, July 26, 2024, at
Carthage Center in Carthage, where he had resided since last October.
Born in
Gouverneur, NY on October 22, 1942, a son of Charles and Alice Kerr Parow,
he was a 1960 graduate of Harrisville High School.
He married Kay E.
Hooley on January 28, 1961 at St. Francis Solanus
Church in Harrisville. Mrs. Hooley died at the age of 67 on June 25, 2010.
Following high school he went to work for the A&P Grocery Store in
Harrisville until 1966, when he began work at the Newton Falls Paper Mill
in Newton Falls. He retired in December 1989 after 24 years of service as a
supervisor of the super calendar paper making machine department.
In his younger
life, Wes loved traveling with his wife motorcycling and camping. He also
enjoyed building small wood crafting projects, especially birdhouses. In
his later years he took pleasure in card playing and working puzzle books.
Surviving are two
daughters, Melissa L. Parow and her significant other, Jeff Tebo, of
Harrisville, and Julie A. and husband, Peter Engelhart, of Glenfield; two
grandsons, Dylan W. (Creedence) Parow, of Carthage, and Ethan W. Parow, of
Harrisville, his step-grandson, Zachary S. Engelhart; three step-great
grandchildren, Lilly, Lucas and Jacob Engelhart; his brother and sister-in-law,
David and Janice Parow, of Viginia; his grandson, Dylan’s mother and dear
friend, Carol Brown, of Carthage; his deceased son Bruce’s former
companion, Nicole “Nikki” Bishop, of Harrisville and nieces and nephews.
In addition to
his loving wife, Kay, he was predeceased by his son, Bruce J. Parow, who
died in 2016, and two brothers, Roderick Parow, who died in 1989, and
Stewart Parow, who died in 2006.
A funeral service
for Wes will be held on Wednesday, July 31, 2024
at 2:00 p.m. at Scanlon Funeral Home, 14187 State St., Harrisville, with
Deacon Michael Allen, officiating, Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery
in Edwards.
Calling hours
will also be on Wednesday, July 31st, from 12 Noon until the
beginning of his 2:00 p.m. service.
