Description automatically generatedLOWVILLE- LOWVILLE-Gary S. Hirschey, 71, of River Road, passed away at his home on Friday, July 12, 2024 under the loving care of his family and Lewis County Hospice. 

 

Gary is survived by his beloved wife Peggy; a son, Tim Hirschey; a daughter, Angela Hirschey; seven grandchildren, Paige Hirschey, Dawson Mead, Gracie Hirschey, Saydee Hirschey, Kaden Hirschey, Austin Bender, and Cole Bender; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Bruce Hirschey; Mike and Connie Hirschey; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.  He is predeceased by two children, John Hirschey, and Sallyann Bender; two sisters, Bonnie Kloster and Kathy Woods; a sister-in-law, Debra Hirschey.

 

Gary was born on July 18, 1952 in Lowville, NY, a son of the late Maynard and Sally Hulbert Hirschey and attended school locally.  On January 22, 1977, he married Peggy A. Gardner at Bethel Church of the Nazarene, Lowville.  Gary works as a nurse’s assistant for many years at Lewis County General Hospital and as a caregiver for Rome DDSO. 

 

Gary loved being with his family and friends.  Most of all, he loved his grandchildren.  He was a hardworking man until he got hurt.  He hated that he could not work anymore, as he loved his job and his co-workers.  Gary loved watching the deer, and birds.  He also loved wild animals; and his cats, Patches and Snowflake.  Gary loved his wife Peggy very much, his children, and grandchildren also.

 

Calling hours are from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., followed by a closing prayer on Friday July 19, 2024 at Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., Lowville.
