Lowville, NY- The debris
disposal area set up at the Village of Lowville Sewage Treatment Plant on
East State Street will have new hours for dropping off yard debris
effective immediately, according to Department of Public Works (DPW)
Superintendent Paul Denise.
The disposal
area, set up for VILLAGE RESIDENTS ONLY to dispose of limbs, debris,
leaves, brush, etc., will now only be accessible
from 7 AM to 3:30 PM on Monday through Friday. There are signs located
along the entrance drive to the Treatment Plant to direct residents to the
disposal areas for such waste at the plant. The gate to the area will be
locked at all other times and there are currently no weekend hours for the
disposal area.
Liability issues
for having the area open after hours along with misuse of the area were
given as reasons for the change.
Mr. Denise said
the Village of Lowville Board of Trustees is expected to discuss the
situation during their June 18 meeting and may consider approving overtime
hours for DPW staff to have the site open for one Saturday morning each
month.
