Lewis County Grand Jury Hands Up Murder Indictment
for Man Accused of Killing PA Man at Ridge View Lodge in January

MEDIA RELEASE
INDICTMENT
Lowville, NY- A Lewis County
Grand Jury has voted to indict Jacob M. Vanbergen for one count of Murder
in the Second Degree. The indictment was filed with the Lewis County Court
on June 4, 2024. Vanbergen is scheduled to be arraigned on the indictment
in Lewis County Court on June 25, 2024.
Vanbergen, 24, of
Coudersport, PA is accused of killing Brandon Shepker,
39, at the Ridge View Lodge in Lowville, New York on January 6, 2024.
Agencies
participating in the investigation and arrest of Vanbergen include the
Lewis County Sheriff’s Office, New York State Police, and the Lewis County
District Attorney’s Office.
The case was
presented to the Grand Jury by Lewis County District Attorney Jeffery
Tompkins and Assistant District Attorney Joseph Hobika
