Lowville, NY- A food drive
will be taking place by horse and cart in the village of Lowville on
Saturday, June 8, to benefit the Lowville Food Pantry. Mickey Dietrich,
owner of Hyder Rock Ranch, and his horse Fred will be leading the food
drive through a planned route through the village. People living along the
route are encouraged to bring out a food donation as the team passes
through their location. For those who do not live along the route, there
will be four designated locations along the route where donations can be
dropped off for pick up by the team.
The event will
start at the Lewis County Fairgrounds and end at the Lowville Food Pantry.
The team will leave the Lewis County Fairgrounds at 3 p.m., travelling down
Park Avenue to Shady Avenue, continuing to Forest Avenue to Trinity Avenue
to West Street, then across Woodlawn Avenue to East State Street to Trinity
to Sharp Street, crossing Shady Avenue to James Street to Lampher Street and back on to Trinity to the Lowville
Food Pantry. (The full map is included at the end of this article.) The
four stops for donations will be at the Lewis County Fairgrounds, Lowville
Farmer’s Co-Op (Shady Avenue), Lowville Food Pantry (Forest Avenue/Trinity
Avenue), and Cazenovia Equipment (Shady Avenue). The route is expected to
take about an hour to complete, depending on the volume of donations along
the way.
In the event of rain on June 8th, the rain date will be Sunday, June 9th at
3pm. Updates on any weather-related schedule changes will be posted on the Hyder Rock Ranch and Lowville Food
Pantry Facebook pages.
