RIBBON CUTTING FOR TWO NEW SENSORY TRAILS THIS
WEEKEND IN JEFFERSON AND LEWIS COUNTIES
Encompass Recreation and Indian River
Lakes Conservancy are thrilled to announce the grand opening of our joint
venture, groundbreaking Sensory Trails. This exciting project promises to
revolutionize natural recreational spaces by offering a multisensory
experience that caters to all individuals, including those with sensory
sensitivities.
Scheduled this
weekend, the ribbon-cutting ceremonies will mark the social launch of these
innovative trails. Baker Woods Preserve, located in Natural Bridge, NY,
Lewis County will host its ribbon cutting ceremony Saturday, May 25th at
11am, and Redwood Hill Preserve, located in Redwood, NY, Jefferson County
will host its ribbon cutting ceremony on Sunday, May 26th at 1pm.
Sensory Trails
are intentionally designed pathways that engage various senses,
providing visitors with a unique and immersive journey through nature.
Incorporating elements such as tactile installations, soothing sounds, and
visually stimulating features, these trails oer
an immersive experience for individuals of all ages and abilities.
"We are
delighted to introduce the community to our latest undertaking." said
Kylie Schell, Executive Director of Encompass Recreation. "These
trails are more than just a recreational space; they are a testament to our
commitment to inclusivity and accessibility. By offering a diverse range of
sensory experiences, we aim to create a welcoming environment where
everyone can enjoy the outdoors."
The events will
feature speeches from key stakeholders, a ribbon-cutting ceremony,
self-guided tours of the trails, and opportunities for all to experience
the sensory elements. Attendees will have the opportunity to explore the
trails first-hand and experience the transformative power of sensory
engagement.
"We believe
that these Sensory Trails will not only enhance the quality of life for
individuals in our community but also serve as a model for inclusive
outdoor spaces worldwide," added Kylie Schell, Executive Director of
Encompass Recreation.
Both Encompass
Recreation and Indian River Lakes Conservancy extend a warm invitation to
members of the media, local officials, community leaders, and the public to
join us in celebrating this momentous occasion.
Together, let us
embark on a journey of discovery and sensory delight at the grand opening
of these Sensory Trails.
