On May 9th at 7:00 PM the South Lewis Falcon Bands will take to the stage in the auditorium.  Featured on the concert will be a progression of levels throughout the South Lewis Instrumental Music Program.  The fourth-grade beginner band under the direction of Mrs. Shannon Chamberlain will take the stage in their very first concert!  Followed by the 5th and 6th Grade Band and 7th and 8th Grade Bands under the direction of Middle School Band Director, Mr. Mike Muller.  Closing out the concert will be the 9-12 Senior High Falcon Concert Band under the direction of Mr. A.J. McCall.  The high school band will perform "NIght Ride Through Metropolis", "Danza Del Fuego" or Spanish Dance of Fire, and "YMCA".  They will also perform a challenging work called "The Haunted Carousel" . This piece will feature a special sound effect called the Theremin.  This is an electronic instrument that was often used in 1950's and 60's Sci Fi movies. The high school band will also perform the beautiful "O Mio Babbino Caro"  by Puccini.  This operatic aria will feature senior mallet percussionist Anna Morely singing in Italian.  The high school concert band has had a busy year of performing.  They presented four school assemblies throughout the year, performed at the New York State Capitol in Albany, and traveled to Myrtle Beach for five days. In Myrtle Beach they performed at Myrtle Beach High School for three adjudicators.  The band earned an excellent rating from all three judges.  the 10 graduating seniors will be recognized and there will be a reception of punch and cookies after the concert.  The public is cordially invited to attend the May 9th concert featuring the talents of the students.
