JCC Unveils Volume XXXIV of
the Black River Review
 The unveiling of Volume XXXIV (34) of the
Jefferson Community College Black River Review (BRR), a
journal of poetry, prose, and fine arts took place on May 9, 2024. The
event was a celebration of the diverse writing and art talents of Jefferson
students, faculty/staff, and alumni.
Throughout the
celebration, contributors were acknowledged for their exceptional
contributions in both writing and art.
Recipients of
the Outstanding Creative Writing Contribution Award are
Kenyon Wells of Atlanta, GA, for his poem titled “Telltale Signs of Love”
and Jeannie M. Gibbs of Dexter for her fiction work titled “A Work of
Heart.”
Recipients of
the Outstanding Art Contribution Award are Olivia M. Cratsenburg of LaFargeville
for the cover design titled “A Change in Perspective” (colored pencil
drawing) and frontispiece titled “Piper Mae”
(colored pencil drawing), and Jennavieve A. Edwards of Croghan for
her works titled “Waterfalls” (pen and ink drawing), “Audrey Hepburn”
(charcoal drawing), and “Thank You” (graphite drawing).
Volume XXXIV
includes the contribution of JCC EDGE student, Elena Dickinson of
Harrisville, for her nonfiction story titled “Garrison Road”. Dickinson is
a senior at Beaver River Central School who is taking JCC credit bearing
courses through the College’s EDGE (concurrent enrollment) program.
Submission
deadline for Volume XXXV (35) is February 14, 2025. Learn more on the
