LEWIS COUNTY EMERGING PROFESSIONALS PROMOTE COMMUNITY BOARD POSITIONS TO MEMBERS AND RESIDENTS

The ‘Get on Board’ Initiative, created by Lewis County Emerging Professionals, provides matchmaking services between open board seats and those looking to get more involved in the community.

LEWIS COUNTY, NY – The Lewis County Emerging Professionals group is promoting an initiative called ‘Get on Board,’ an online matchmaking service that connects open board seats within local community organizations, not for profits, and municipalities with individuals looking to get more involved in the community.

By promoting open board positions and boards within the community, the group hopes to spur local interest to inspire more people to join boards and even attend their local board meetings to gain a broader understanding of what is happening locally.

McKenzie Lehman, President of LCEP, has always been passionate about Lewis County but did not immediately recognize the importance of getting involved.

“Before participating in the Lewis County Leadership Academy, I had never considered joining a board, and becoming a board member was not something I believed I was qualified for,” Ms. Lehman said. “The LCEP board has been promoting this initiative for several years, because we feel strongly that people of all professions and age groups should be able to make a difference in their community.”

The initiative seeks open board positions from local community groups, not for profits, or municipalities and will create a running list on their website. They will then promote the site through various forms of outreach. The group will also

seek out community members who are looking to get involved, but may not know where to start, and match community members with open board positions through the online portal.

The website development and marketing committee for LCEP has developed an online portal that allows both parties, those seeking and searching for board positions, to connect and discover board opportunities in Lewis County. Organizations who are looking to post their board opening can simply visit lewiscountyep.com/get-on-board and fill out a simple form. The LCEP group will then continuously market the open board positions to their email list, social media following and community.

The hope is to inspire community members to get involved and have their voice heard for the future generations of Lewis County, NY.
