Ballots Set for March 19 Village Elections in
Lowville and Castorland

Lowville, NY- The ballots are
set for a pair of Lewis County villages holding their village elections on
March 19.
In the village of
Lowville, the deadline to file an independent nominating petition to appear
on the ballot passed on Tuesday, February 13. Three candidates will appear
on the ballot for the two seats on the Board of Trustees up for election
this year. Current trustees Dan Salmon and Charles Terrillion are both
running for another term, with Lowville Fire Chief Joe Austin challenging
for one of the seats. The top two vote-getters in the March 19 election
will win seats.
A Meet the
Candidates night, hosted by linkinglewiscounty.com, has been
scheduled for the contested race in the village of Lowville for Wednesday,
March 13 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Lowville municipal building on
Bostwick Street.
In the village of
Castorland, a caucus was held on Tuesday night to put forward candidates
for the position of mayor and two trustee seats up for election this year. Current
trustee Heidi Lehmann was the only candidate put forward for mayor, while current
mayor Mervin Moser and current trustee Scott Moshier were the only two
candidates put forward for the two trustee seats. The uncontested election
in Castorland will take place on Tuesday, March 19.
