All Kids Bike Program Rolling into the North Country
Lewis County, NY – Encompass
Recreation and The Adirondack Foothills Cycling Club are thrilled to
announce a groundbreaking partnership aimed at fostering inclusivity and
physical activity within our community. The collaboration will
introduce All Kids Bike, a specialized program designed to
assist children with different abilities in learning to ride bikes.
This joint
initiative reflects our commitment to creating a more accessible and
inclusive environment for children of all backgrounds. The program will
provide tailored support to youngsters, ensuring they can experience the
joy and freedom of cycling.
The All Kids
Bike program will kick off with a 3-week, Monday and Wednesday
evening series of hands-on training sessions, at Beaver River School, in
Beaver Falls NY, where participants will receive personalized guidance from
experienced instructors. The program begins April 29, 2024. The Adirondack
Foothills Cycling Club will contribute its expertise in cycling education,
while Encompass Recreation will bring its experience in working with
children of diverse abilities. Together, they will provide the All Kids Bike curriculum that
combines adaptive techniques with the passion for cycling, creating a
supportive and enjoyable learning experience. This program will expand to
Jefferson and St. Lawrence counties in the future, in
order to provide this education to all kids in the North
Country.
Additionally, Encompass Recreation and
The ADK Foothills Cycling Club are actively seeking community support to
provide adaptive equipment and resources for the participants. Donations of
funds, equipment, or volunteers are always welcome, and will help ensure
the All Kids Bike Programs growth and continued
success.
"We believe
that every child deserves the chance to experience the thrill of riding a
bike, regardless of their abilities. This partnership is a testament to our
shared commitment to inclusivity and creating positive, life-enriching
experiences for our community's youth," said Kylie Schell,
spokesperson for Encompass Recreation.
This program is
funded by the generosity of donations from The United Way, The Pratt
Northam Foundation, Northern Credit Union, and the AFCC's annual cycling
events. To sign up for the All Kids Bike Program,
