Village of Castorland to Hold Caucus February 13 to
Nominate Candidates for March 19 Village Election

 Castorland, NY- The Village of
Castorland will be selecting two trustees and a mayor during the upcoming
village election on March 19.
For interested
candidates, Castorland uses a slightly different method for getting on the
ballot than most of the other local communities. For village elections,
instead of having candidates collect a required number of signatures on
independent nominating petitions, Castorland uses the caucus format to
place candidates on the ballot. Any village resident interested in running
for either a trustee seat or the mayor position must attend the caucus,
scheduled for February 13 at 7 p.m. at the Village office located at 5185
State Route 410. Potential candidates should bring a person to nominate
them for the desired position. Candidates with a successful nomination will
then appear on the March 19 ballot, when residents of the village will
elect two trustees and a mayor to four-year terms.
