Lowville Sees Second Warmest December on Record While Setting Record for Least Amount of December Snowfall

Lowville, NY- Overall, Lowville saw temperatures well above average with precipitation just short of normal levels last month, according to weather data compiled from the Northeast Regional Climate Center (dating back to 1893).

 

December finished with a mean average temperature (cumulative highs and lows) of 34.2 degrees in Lowville, a full 9.5 degrees above the normal mean average temperature for December in Lowville of 24.7 degrees. In terms of ranking, it was the 2nd warmest December on record. The warmest December on record for Lowville occurred in 2015, when the mean average temperature for the month was 36.9 degrees. The coldest December occurred in 1989, when the mean average temperature was just 4.8 degrees for the month. The highest temperature of the month last month reached 52 degrees on December 10th. The lowest temperature recorded last month was 11 degrees on both December 22nd and December 23rd.
