Description automatically generatedLOWVILLE – Nancy J. Beyer, 85, of Sharp Street, Lowville, passed away on Friday evening, November 17, 2023 at Albany Medical Center.

A funeral Mass will be said at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 24, 2023 at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, Croghan, with Rev. Donald Manfred, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the West Lowville Rural Cemetery. A brief calling hour will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 on Friday, prior to the funeral Mass, at the church. The family invites everyone to join them for a luncheon immediately following the burial at the Lowville VFW, where they would like to visit with everyone.  Any food donations may be taken to the VFW on Friday beginning at 9:00 a.m. Contributions may be made to Friends of Lewis County Hospice, P.O. Box 266, Lowville, NY 13367; or to the American Diabetes Association, Utica NY Office, Lomond Office Park, 110 Lomond Court, Utica, NY 13502.

She is survived by her nine children and their spouses, James and Heidi Beyer of Lowville; Tony and Julie Beyer of Lowville; Dawn and Douglas Jackson of Croghan; Joseph and Karen Beyer of Lowville; Dean Beyer of Lowville; Ernest and Amy Beyer of Lowville; Lori Beyer-Teal and Donnamarie Martocci of Latham; Donald and Julie Beyer of Simpsonville, SC; Daniel and Sherry Beyer of Lowville; a brother Gerald F. and Brenda Edwards of Lowville; a half-brother, William E  Edwards of Lowville;  three sisters, Donna Eastman of Ellisburg; Susan LaChausse of Croghan;  Shirley and Martin Beyer of Lowville; two half-sisters, Mary Micek of Troutville, VA; Patricia Hellinger of Lowville; a brother-in-law, James Rowsam of Lowville; 33  grandchildren and 26  great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She is predeceased by her husband, Walter J. Beyer, Jr.; a daughter-in-law, Renee J. Beyer; a granddaughter, Olivia Miracle Beyer; a brother, John Louis “Jack” Edwards; two sisters, Joan Rowsam and Margaret “Peg” Nevills; four brothers-in-law, Dale Nevills, Theodore Micek, Bruce LaChausse and William Eastman.

Nancy was born on July 19, 1938 in Croghan, NY, a daughter of the late Gerald A. and Mary Bockenheim Edwards, and the step-daughter of the late Mary Margaret Chartrand Edwards. She attended Father Leo Memorial School.  On July 7, 1956, she married Walter J. Beyer, Jr. at St. Stephen's Catholic Church in Croghan, with Father Fenton Murphy officiating. Together with her husband, the couple owned and operated a dairy farm on the Number Three Road from 1956 - 1964. The family moved to a farm on Route 26 in Lowville, operating the farm until retiring in 2000. The farm is now owned by their son and daughter-in-law, Dan and Sherry Beyer and family. After their retirement, Walter and Nancy moved to Sharp Street in Lowville.

 

Nancy was a long-time communicant of St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Lowville.  She was a true mother to all.  She would be there with five minutes notice to give a ride or help in any way.  She enjoyed quilting, family gatherings, and having breakfast at Lloyd’s of Lowville.
