Lowville Sees Above Average Temperatures and
Precipitation During October

Lowville, NY- Overall,
Lowville saw temperatures well above average with precipitation just above normal
levels last month, according to weather data compiled from the Northeast Regional Climate Center
(dating back to 1893).
October finished
with a mean average temperature (cumulative highs and lows) of 52.5 degrees
in Lowville, a full 5.4 degrees above the normal mean average temperature
for October in Lowville of 47.1 degrees. In terms of ranking, it was the 11th
warmest October on record. The warmest October on record for Lowville
occurred in 1947, when the mean average temperature for the month was 56.1
degrees. The coldest October occurred in 1925, when the mean average
temperature was 39.6 degrees for the month. The highest temperature of the
month last month reached 86 degrees on October 5th. This was the second
warmest temperature ever recorded in Lowville during October, just missing
the highest October temperature ever of 87 degrees recorded on October 2,
1927. The lowest temperature recorded last month was 29 degrees on October
31.
October saw a
total of 4.93 inches of precipitation in Lowville, slightly above the normal
4.56 inches for the month, ranking as the 29th wettest October on record. The
wettest October on record occurred in 2016, with 9.22 inches of
precipitation recorded, while the driest October on record occurred in 1994,
with just 0.32 inches of precipitation. Measurable precipitation was
recorded on 17 days last month, with 1 additional day recording a trace
amount. The most precipitation recorded on a single day last month was 1.58
inches, recorded on October 7th. There was no measurable snow recorded for
the month (although that changed quickly on November 1). Lowville has not
recorded measurable snow in October since 2018, when 1 inch was recorded.
The snowiest October occurred in 1988, when a total of 13 inches of snow
