THE VILLAGE OF LOWVILLE CELEBRATES COMPLETED PHASES OF TWO MAJOR INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECTS

LOWVILLE, NY - The Village of Lowville will be holding a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony in honor of the completion of

Phase I of their Groundwater Project and Phase II of the Wastewater Treatment Plant Project. The event will be held on Wednesday, November 1, at 10 AM at the Village of Lowville Wastewater Treatment Plant.

GYMO, DPC has been the Village’s Engineer on various projects for nearly a decade, including for these two significant projects.

The Village of Lowville has prioritized infrastructure improvements in order to expand municipal water and sewer access to their users. GYMO assisted by increasing the water supply permit for the Village from 1.6 million gallons/day to 2.1 million gallons/day. This increase will help to alleviate any water shortage. Phase I of the $5.7 million groundwater project consisted of the construction of two groundwater wells, which will draw approximately 500,000 gallons per day. ±9,000 linear feet (LF) of new water main and electrical line service the well pumps. Upgrades were also made inside of the existing Water Treatment Plant to better modernize the facility. GYMO aided the Village of Lowville in securing a $3 million grant from EFC in order to allow the project to come to fruition.

GYMO assisted the Village in securing over $6.4 million in grant money for their Wastewater Treatment Plant Project. Additionally, Empire State Development awarded a $4 million capital grant recommended by the regional economic development council. The Environmental Facilities Corporation awarded $1.28 million. The project entailed the replacement of a new synthetic liner in an 8 acre sewage lagoon as well as all Aeration and Diffuser Equipment. Other project highlights include the construction of a new chlorine contact tank and a new chemical storage tank. Metering Equipment throughout the plant was upgraded and replaced as needed, as well.

These are sound investments made by the Village in order to ensure the sustainability of the community. GYMO is full service Architecture, Engineering, Land Surveying and Construction Management Firm located in Watertown, NY. They have helped municipalities across Northern and Central NY bring their great ideas to life since GYMO’s inception, in 1992.
