Joseph M. “Tony” Noody
LOWVILLE- Joseph M. “Tony” Noody, 89, formerly of Stewart Street, passed away Monday
morning, October 9, 2023 at Samaritan Keep Home,
Watertown.
He is survived by
his children, William Noody of Carthage; Diane M.
and Richard J. Curtis of Watertown, Lori A. and Gregory P. Wlodarek of
Watertown, Leslie J. Moser of Croghan, Christine M. and David P. Doherty of
Syracuse; six grandchildren, three step grandchildren, four great-grandchildren,
ten step great-grandchildren; a brother, Lyle Renodin
of Albany, several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is predeceased by his beloved wife,
Rita M. Noody; a son-in-law, Daniel R. Moser; a
daughter-in-law, Bernice Noody; five brothers,
Edward Noody, Eugene Noody;
Robert Noody, Charles “Doug” Renodin,
James Noody; and three sisters, Blanche DeCann,
Margaret Renodin, and Darryl Renodin.
Tony was born on
January 30, 1934 in Croghan, NY, a son of the late
Joseph John and Anna Mae Hogan Noody.
He attended
Father Leo Memorial School, Croghan.
On September 3, 1955, he married Rita M. Duflo at St. Peter’s
Catholic Church, Lowville, with Monsignor John A. Cotter officiating. Tony served in the U.S. Army, Third
Armored Division from October 1956-October 1958. He worked for Boise Cascade, Beaver Falls
for 43 years, retiring in March 1997.
He was a
communicant of St. Peter’s Catholic Church.
Tony enjoyed gardening. He
had a huge garden and took great pride in selling those vegetables to
neighbors and friends. He also gave
many of them away as well. Sweet
corn was his specialty. Tony enjoyed
his greenhouse and took a lot of pride in showing off his beautiful
garden. He also grew many different
types of flowers alongside his wife.
Tony’s family
would like to say a special thank you to all of
the staff of the 8th floor at Samaritan Keep Home for their
loving care shown to Joe during his stay in the nursing home.
A funeral Mass
will be said at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday October 17, 2023
at St. Peter’s Catholic Church with Rev. Severinus Torwoe
officiating. Burial
with Military Honors will follow in Martinsburg Cemetery. Calling hours are from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m.
