COPENHAGEN- Richard John "Rich" Williams, 65, of Liberty Road, passed
away Saturday, September 2, 2023 at Roswell Park
Cancer Center, Buffalo.
Richard is survived by his beloved wife of 21 years, Sharon L. Williams;
his children, Shauna and Jeremy Vogt of Rochester, Heather and Mike Belknap
of Hemlock; four grandchildren, Colby and Brayden, Ember and Orion; his
mother, Dolores Sandman of Melbourne Beach, FL, a step-brother, Michael
(Dawn) Sandman of High Point, NC; a special nephew, Kyle Sandman and a
special niece, Lauren Lesio; nieces, nephews and cousins. He is predeceased by his step-father, John "Jack" Sandman; two
brothers, John Sandman and Craig Williams; a sister, Dolores "Dee Dee" Lesio.
Richard was born on May 16, 1958 in Rochester,
NY, a son of the late Richard Williams; and Dolores Lusardi Williams. He graduated from Pittsford High
School. Richard then worked for his
mother and step-father at Sandman Construction
before going to work as a heavy equipment operator for the NYS thruway in
Manchester, NY for more than 25 years, retiring in 2016. On August 3, 2002
he was married to Sharon L. Weidman in Mendon, NY. The couple moved to Montague in 2016
where Rich worked as a heavy equipment operator for Town of Montague and
Town of Pinckney.
He was a member of BPOE #1605, Lowville Lodge. Rich was an avid outdoorsman enjoying
hunting, fishing, four-wheeling, trapping, riding his side-by-side and
snowmobiling. Most of all Rich
enjoyed spending time with his family and was a wonderful husband, father
and son and a great papa.
In keeping with Rich's wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral service. A Celebration of Life Gathering will be
held from 1- 4 p.m. on Sunday, September 17, 2023
at Montague Inn, 6765 Sears Pond Road, Lowville, NY 13367. There will also be a Celebration of Life
Gathering from 1-4 p.m. on Saturday, September 30, 2023
at Pumpkin Hook Fire Department, 135 Hook Road, Farmington, NY 14425.
