Joseph was born
on November 30, 1948 in Lowville, NY, a son of the
late Elmer Fred and Ruth Lillian Kriwox
Cobb. He attended General Martin School
and as a young lad started his working career to help support his family.
He married Bonnie Lou Edick on April 20, 1968 in
Glenfield. He began his career in
road construction in the 1970’s paving throughout the North Country and
later in Florida. Paving the
Northway for the 1980’s Winter Olympics was an accomplishment he held
dear. This is where he set the state
record for laying down the most blacktop in a 24-hour period in New York
State. To this day he still holds that record. Another highlight of his
career was that he was chosen to pave the New York State Capitol. He continued his career in road construction
after moving to Florida. In May of
2020, Joe moved home to Lewis County to be near his daughters and grandchildren.
Throughout his
life he enjoyed trapping, fishing, and hunting with friends and family. He
also enjoyed dancing and country music. During his retirement he began to
establish his vast vinyl record collection (because nothing sounds better
than dropping a needle on vinyl.)
The family would
like to extend their most sincerest gratitude to
the staff of the Lewis County Health System, who truly treated us like
family.
