United States for Sixth Time
WATERTOWN, NY (September 15,
2023) – American Banker recently honored 70 credit unions across the United
States as best credit unions to work for in the country, Northern Credit
Union was among the honored credit unions.
“We’re humbled by
the passion our internal-owner employees have for our mission, vision and
core values and the honor this recognition represents," said Dan St.Hilaire, President and CEO.
“We know that in taking care of our internal-owner employees like family, they
in turn, will take care of our member-owners as family.”
Northern is thrilled
to share this recognition with member-owners and is incredibly grateful
they have made the choice to be an owner in the not-for-profit financial
cooperative. At Northern, members and employees are owners, and each have a
voice and stake in the success of the Credit Union. Core to Northern’s
beliefs is an unwavering commitment to giving back to the community,
cultivating a people-first culture, inspiring the power of ownership, and
delivering on the promise of creating mutual value. In 2022, Northern
donated more than $206,000 to local area charitable causes and provided
free financial education to more than 3,800 students through Banzai and Mad
City Money. Northern also invests heavily in internal-owner employees
through great benefits including tuition assistance, a stakeholder’s
program similar to profit-sharing, healthcare, and
a generous time off package.
American Banker
selected credit unions through two surveys from Best Companies Group, an
independent research firm specializing in identifying great places to work.
The first survey examines employee satisfaction, leadership and planning,
culture, communication and overall
engagement. The second survey evaluates the benefits and policies of
each credit union, including factors like cost-free telehealth visits, community
involvement and employee appreciation events.
