Lowville Sees Below Normal Temperatures with Well Above Normal Precipitation During August

Lowville, NY- Overall, Lowville saw below average temperatures with precipitation well above normal last month, according to weather data compiled from the Northeast Regional Climate Center (dating back to 1893).

 

August finished with a mean average temperature (cumulative highs and lows) of 65.2 degrees in Lowville, a full degree below the normal mean average temperature for August in Lowville of 66.2 degrees. In terms of ranking, it was the 41st coolest August on record. The warmest August on record for Lowville occurred in both 1928 and 1947, when the mean average temperature for the month was 71.2 degrees. The coldest August occurred in 1903, when the mean average temperature was 59.8 degrees for the month. The highest temperature of the month last month reached 80 degrees on August 1st, 2nd, and 21st, setting a record for the lowest high temperature ever for Lowville during the month of August. The previous lowest high temperature for Lowville during August was 82 degrees, reached in 1903, 1986, and 2000. The lowest temperature recorded last month was 46 degrees on August 5th and 6th.
