Lewis County Night Out Event Returns to Lowville

Night Out will return to the Lewis County Fairgrounds in Lowville on Friday,
September 15, 2023, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The annual event, which
started in 2012 as National Night Out before moving to Lewis County Night
Out in 2016, makes its return for the first time since the COVID-19
pandemic caused the cancellation of the 2020, 2021, and 2022 events.
The annual family focused event is an evening that brings the community
together with local law enforcement and crime and drug prevention
agencies, with activities, information booths and demonstrations. The
main goal of the event is to heighten crime and drug prevention
awareness, with a focus on generating support and participation
in crime and drug prevention efforts. The event is sponsored by Northern
Regional Center for Independent Living and Lewis County law enforcement
agencies.
The night will kick off with an opening ceremony at 5:45 p.m., where two
local community members will be recognized for their contributions to
the community. Following the opening ceremony, a K9 demonstration with the
Lewis County Sheriff’s Office and New York State Police is scheduled to
begin at 6 p.m. Additional demonstrations and activities will be taking
place throughout the evening, including a Life Net helicopter landing,
weather permitting.
The family event
focuses on a variety of activities and opportunities for area youth to
interact and engage with members of the law enforcement and first responder
communities, McGruff the Crime Dog will be on site, and the Lowville Police
Department will have a booth to process free Safe Child ID Cards.
A free hot dog, chips,
and soda or water will be available to attendees while supplies last. Squishy’s BBQ food truck will also be on site with
additional food options available for purchase. All attendees will also
receive an entry for the evening’s two door prize drawings, one for a new
gas grill and the other for a Moser’s Maple gift basket.

to come out for a great evening with our local law enforcement and first
responder agencies.
