Lewis County Awarded Nearly $7M in Bridge NY Initiative Funding for Four Bridge and Culvert Replacement Projects

Four Lewis County bridge and culvert replacement projects received a total of $6.875 million in the latest round of funding through the Bridge NY initiative announced by Governor Kathy Hochul on Wednesday. In total, more than $516 million in funding was announced for 216 projects in 141 communities to rehabilitate and replace bridges and culverts across the state.

 

The State's BRIDGE NY initiative helps local governments across the state harden their existing infrastructure while boosting the resiliency of bridges and culverts in the state, according to the press release announcing the funding, supporting projects that combat climate change by reducing the risk of flooding, improves the resiliency of structures, facilitates regional economic competitiveness and prioritizes projects that benefit environmental justice communities.

 

These are the four Lewis County projects to receive funding:

 

  • $1.883 million to Lewis County for the replacement of the County Road 21 bridge over Gulf Stream

 

  • $1.802 million to Lewis County for the replacement of the County Road 43 bridge over Moose Creek

 

  • $1.979 million to Lewis County for the replacement of the Erie Canal Road culvert carrying the tributary to Black Creek

 

  • $1.211 million to Lewis County for the replacement of the Kotel Road culvert carrying the tributary to South Branch Crystal Creek
