Historic 1826 Lowville Village Band kicks off summer
concert series with a Star Spangled Spectacular
On Wednesday,
July 5 at 7:00 PM, in Lowville Veterans Memorial Park- located behind the
Post Office, the historic Lowville Village Band returns to the Millard
Chamberlain Band Stand for the first of several old-fashioned band concerts
this summer.
These concerts
have been gracing the community with recorded history back to 1826. This
first concert this season will have an Independence Day Patriotic
Theme. The concert will begin with our National Anthem, "The Star
Spangled Banner", written during the War of
1812. The concert will end with Irving Berlin immortal "God Bless
America", first composed during World
War One and reworked and released during World War Two. Other songs to
be performed include a medley from "The Music Man", "Sweet
Caroline", "Theme from New York, New York", and "A
Patriotic Festival", and "Marches of America". The
band will also pay tribute to the men and women in the military with
"Armed Forces Salute".
Everyone is
cordially invited to this free old-fashioned concert in the park.
Bring a blanket, bring a chair, have a picnic, enjoy the playground
and open space for ball and frisbee, while enjoying the talents found in
our community.
This concert is
sponsored by: linkinglewiscounty.com, Tom Spaulding State Farm
Insurance, PB&J Cafe, Jeb’s Restaurant, and the Village of
Lowville.
