Lowville Sees Below Normal Temperatures and Precipitation

Lowville, NY- Overall,
Lowville saw below average temperatures and precipitation last month,
according to weather data compiled from the Northeast Regional Climate Center
(dating back to 1893).
May finished with
a mean average temperature (cumulative highs and lows) of 53.0 degrees in
Lowville, 1.5 degrees below the normal mean average temperature for May in
Lowville of 54.5 degrees. This is the first month this year to come in
below normal in terms of temperature, and the first month since June of
2022 that this has occurred. In terms of ranking, it was the 37th coldest
May on record. The warmest May on record for Lowville occurred in 1911,
when the mean average temperature for the month was 61.3 degrees. The
coldest May occurred in 1917, when the mean average temperature was 47.5
degrees for the month. The highest temperature of the month last month reached
84 degrees on May 31st. The lowest temperature recorded last month was 28
degrees on May 19th.
May saw a total
of 2.53 inches of precipitation in Lowville, coming in below the normal of 3.39
inches for the month. This ranks as the 51st driest May on record. The
